Rogelio started his artistic career at an early age in a variety of theatre and dance productions. He has received his training from artists and educators Angeles Romero, Carlos J. Rojas and SITI company in New York. He has worked with renowned artist such as Anne Bogart and Ellen Lauren. For the past ten years, he has remained an active actor with small theater groups presenting at MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts), Talento Bilingüe de Houston, Proyecto Teatro (Austin, TX), as well as having the opportunity to perform abroad in countries such as Mexico and France. He is a core member of Absolute Arts Production and co-director of “El Gremio’’ an artist collective committed to continuous concerted actor training and art-making. Rogelio made his directorial debut with Sor Juana & The Chambered Nautilus for MECA’s 2019 performance season.

LEÓN (Designer) is interested in how film can become another character on stage. He completed an intensive film training at Austin Film Works in 1996. Since then, Esquenazi has directed various independent films, as well, as produced a Latino television show, Inmigrante TV in 2011. To enliven his creativity, he joined Absolute Arts and participated in the creation of it's Fabrikka Films, a series of one-minute guerilla videos. He has lit most of the productions, more recently, Sor Juana & the Chambered Nautilus.

Elda (Actress & Designer) started her artistic career at an early age in a variety of theatre and dance productions in Mexico. Her formal actor training has come from Expressarte 4th generation, an acting program offered by TBH, a Latino cultural center in Houston. She has honed her skills by participating in master classes and regularly performing for the Latino community. For the past four years, she has remained an active actor with small theater groups presenting at MATCH-Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston, Talento Bilingue de Houston, Proyecto Teatro (Austin, TX), as well as in Mexico and France. Besides her passion for acting and directing, Ramos enjoys sharing her love of theatre with children, adolescents and adults through workshops and improvisation classes.| Photography by Domingo Banda

ANGELES (Writer, Actress, Educator) originally from the US-Mexican border, studied Political Science at UT-Austin and later was the first Latina to obtained an MFA in Theatre from The Ohio State University where she also taught in the Comparative Studies Department [Theatre and Latinx Identities and subjectivities]. She’s been trained by established artists and educators, such as, Deborah Hay, Marcel Marceau, Ofelia Medina, Daniel MacIvor, Johannes Birringer, Ellen Lauren, to name a few. She’s dedicated over a decade to teaching acting and performance techniques in workshop and academic settings. As former Artistic Director at Talento Bilingüe de Houston, she presented a full season of productions in theater, film, music, and dance. Also, she developed, implemented and taught an integrated bilingual theatre program for youth and adults. As an independent performer and writer, she’s featured her own works throughout the country. Under a Houston Arts Alliance fellowship, she wrote her multimedia play, Puntos de Fuga and afterwards, was awarded a prestigious invitation to train at the Tadashi Suzuki School in Toga, Japan. In 2015, she received an Artist-in-Residency at MECA, which has kept her active, teaching workshops and producing new works such as El sueño de la razón produce monstruos (featured in 2016) and an elaborate multimedia stage reading of Puntos de Fuga (in 2018). Currently, she facilitates, alongside Rogelio Carrizales, an actor training at MECA on Sunday mornings, free of charge.
