What is this about?
THE FIFTH WALL is a 12-week performance multimedia summer workshop offered by the Theatre Lab ABSOLUTE directed by Angeles Romero at MECA.
The workshop will:
1. Introduce the use of media in performance in a relaxed and playful way.
2. Encourage you to be lavishly expansive with your imagination, yet creatively resourceful with your tools and delivery.
3. Foster your social responsibility promoting a guerilla style of art-making in which technology is used in a deliberate and meaningful manner.
4. Enhance and extend your personal artistic expression
5. Offer you an opportunity to build a community while working with others to develop their artistic growth.
Ideally, who is the intended student?
* A hybrid artist curious to experiment with media to further its dimensions in performance.
* A nerdy artist willing to integrate alternative theatrical conventions that re-transcribe our notions of expression and create art that speaks in a ‘technological relatedness.”
* An intuitive artist that brings together the physical, virtual, intimate and imaginary spaces we now exist in.
* A curious techie interested in delving into the visual and performing arts.
Please note:
-No previous experience in technology is required. However, it is highly recommended that the participant have a brave, hands-on attitude when it comes to venturing with the unknown.
-The workshop accommodates experienced people as well as those who have no background in technology.
- Upon completing the workshop, students will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

A Natural Self: Essentials to Acting
An actor needs to develop a sense of truth…Otherwise it is impossible to detect this falseness in him/herself.
What is this about?
A natural self, Essentials to Acting is a 12-week process oriented acting workshop offered to eight serious and passionate actors on the fundamentals of acting. The workshop is facilitated by Angeles Romero.
The workshop will:
~Foster fundamental acting skills and tools required for developing a personal process
~Develop your imagination and concentration in a relaxed way.
~Build your self-awareness and
~Encourage you to recognize your emotional truth and deliver an authentic experience
~Challenge you to stay committed in your acting
~Teach an actor’s vocabulary
~Build a sense of camaraderie by practicing a code of ethics that promotes professionalism and artistic growth
Ideally, who is the intended student?
~A curious artist willing to explore the darker and lighter sides of his/her human nature.
~An accountable artist willing to courageously own what belongs to him/her and gently bring others to responsibility.
~An intuitive artist willing to go with the gut--revealing a compelling, intimate, and natural self.

* Upon completing the workshop students will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
