ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Sor Juana & the Chambered Nautilus brings to life Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz—a 17th Century Mexican nun known for her voracious drive for knowledge and an exceptional genius as a writer. The play dramatizes the existential conversation Sor Juana has with herself as she attempts to build a self-defense argument against charges of transgression brought by the Inquisition. After an arduous night of self examination she chooses to confront her shortcomings and ultimately defend not only her own interest in worldly learning, but also the broad rights of women to an education and an unfettered life of the mind.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Puntos de Fuga (Vanishing Points) is set in an interrogation room where Amalia, a young maquila worker from Catemaco, Veracruz is being held for questioning in connection with the kidnapping of DEA Agent John Arenas. As the officer sets off to find incriminating evidence that links her to the drug cartel, Amalia reveals her supernatural powers as a means to keep a solemn vow of securing an American airplane in order to unearth the missing women in Juárez. The interrogation is existentially challenging to the interpreter, who is discomforted by its senseless brutality.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
El sueño de la razón produce monstruos interweaves two plots--on stage, a household of women depicts Mexico’s struggle for sovereignty against Napoleon III during the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862; on screen, a condemned activist braces himself to face his assassins by video-recording of his final reflections on social justice—alongside a harlequinesque narrator prescribes the “official” historical account, one of total irrelevancy, since ultimately, the unexpected Mexican victory did not change the outcome of a French takeover a year later.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
The Brow [EL entrecejo] portrays the tumultuous life of Mexico’s iconic painter, Frida Kahlo. Compelling physicality and interactive film projections lend new insights into Frida’s struggle with polio; a near-fatal bus accident at 18, her tempestuous marriage to Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, her love affairs, among which painting reigned supreme, her many surgeries—nearly 35 altogether—and ultimately her death. In The Brow, Death’s looming presence accompanies Frida on stage and like a paparazzo, at times voyeuristically captures with a live camera feed her most intimate moments.
